The beer leaves a fizzing sound while being poured. The three finger head is brown and airy. It sinks slowly with more fizzing sounds. The colour is dark brown, almost black (90 EBC), the liquid is clear. No lacing occurs.
The dry smell is malty with chocolate, alcohol and some butterscotch. Clean bitter notes, too.
The taste is roasted with a clean moderate bitterness. Quite a lot of alcohol. Hints of cocoa and raspberry jam. Medium body. The aftertaste is alcoholic with roasted/burned notes and some dried apricots. It is rather short. Alcohol and chocolate toffee in the finish.
The carbonation is very strong, the large bubbles are short-lived. The liquid is rather light and dry.
Over-carbonated and a bit simple for a 7 % black beer. No problems, though.
