A: Pours dark brown, murky with a cappuccino creamy head. The retention is pretty bad and dissipates to a ring very fast. Solid amount of lacing which is expected at higher abv and sugar content.
S: Smell is pretty light overall. There is some brown sugar, molasses, salted caramel and leather. And that's pretty much it.
T: If it doesn't smell a lot, it does pack a punch in the flavor profile. It has a super old school Old Ale vibe, 100% British. It tastes like sweet browned butter, straight up. Solid amount of smoke, leather and dried fruits from the alcohol. It isn't too sweet, the butter notes aren't diacetyl like. Very very well done.
M: HUGE, creamy and not too sticky, really excellent for the genre.
O: This is a really good beer. You often find Old Ales that play too much on the hops IMO but this one is a true old school delicacy.

Bottle: Poured a dark copper color ale with a medium foamy head with OK retention and some light carbonation. Aroma of caramel malt with light residual sugar notes and oak. Taste is a great mix of caramelized malt notes with some oak and light sugar notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Well brewed for a style that we don’t see too often.
