Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color porter with a medium size foamy head with light retention and no lacing. Aroma of chipotle is quite strong with light roasted malt and black chocolate notes also perceptible. Taste is a mix between some light roasted malt notes with subtle chocolate notes with a spicy finish. Body is too thin for style with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. The chipotle is too dominant for my taste and leaves little room for other flavours.

From notes...
A - Pours black with ruby red hue on the edges, thumb of dark mocha head with decent retention and some sporadic lacing.
S - Scent is loaded with rich mocha, dark cocoa, burnt toast, black liquorice and hint of smoky peat.
T - The mocha comes through off the top, dark cocoa and sweet molasses, rich caramel and the smokiness comes through on the finish. The chipotle heat does linger alongside a hint of ABV bite, though it is quite mild and subtle.
M - A finer carbonation leads to a thicker mouthfeel, with a sticky finish.
O - A great porter with plenty of flavour but the chipotle profile was a bit too mild IMO. Given the price tag, I was expecting something a bit more memorable. Glad to have tried it, but given the opportunity I likely wouldn't get it again.

Served from a 750ml bottle. Drunk at cellar temperature.
A: Very dark black color. Brown tinges when pressed up against light. Small head.fairly dense and creamy. Left moderate lacing.
S: Smokey smells are dominant with small chocolate undertones and perhaps a bit of coffee. None of the chipotle is present in the smell IMO.
T: A smokey and earthy flavor to it backed with mild chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. The highlight is really on the smoke and earth though. The chipotle mentioned on the bottle is really not all that present and is just slightly available to the tongue. No real chiptole aftertaste and I feel like they could have just left this flavour out its so close to not present. Slightly more does come out as it warms up though.
M: Fairly creamy but nothing astounding. Goes down pretty smooth and the alcohol is masked pretty well.
O: I didn't really care for it. It was decent and if offered it again I would happily drink it but probably not something I would seek out again.

750ml bottle poured into a Brasseurs du Monde tulip. 2012 on the label.
The beer pours a lovely jet black color, very opaque, with touches of dark brown when struck by the light. A huge 3 finger caramel colored head rises out of the glass, very tightly packed bubbles, thick and frothy soap texture, that has great retention but leaves behind no lacing. The aroma is pleasant, bitter dark chocolate, roasted coffee, rich toffee with some vegetal pepper aroma, but it's definitely in the background, a nice prickly heat lingers on the nose. The flavors are nice as well, lots of smooth dark chocolate, burnt coffee, some earthy hop flavors bring out the pepper quite nicely, very subtle use of the pepper, it by no means overpowers the other flavors and really goes well with the chocolate. The body is a bit thin yet quite lively and prickly, an easy dry finish goes down nicely.
Verdict: Quite nice porter from Brasseurs du Monde, the pepper is extremely well integrated and a lovely subtle touch. This is my first experience with this brewery and I am certainly impressed, a lovely porter for anyone who can find it and likes a touch of spice.
