Birra Peroni Industriale S.p.A. "Wührer"
66 cl brown glass bottle coded "Da consumarsi preferibilimente entro la fine 08/25PADOVA L4 146 2 20". Sampled on 25 November 2025
€2,30 @ Mollha Mini Market, Parma, IT
Look: A clear golden body is capped by a thumb's width of white foam that declines to a finger's width, holds for a moment more, and then continues to dissipate at a fairly steady rate. I'll call the head retention better than average for sure, and the lacing is not bad either.
Smell: Clean with lightly sweetish grainy malt with a smear of herbal hops.
Taste: Surprisingly malty. There could be more hops to it but there's still enough to give it some character. It's herbal but also a touch grassy, and there is a slight bit of fruitiness to it as well. A median bitterness balances it nicely and it finishes mainly dry with another smear of hops lingering shortly.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp.
Overall: This oddly German named lager is supposedly one of Italy's best selling beers. I find that hard to believe, but OK. It's decent enough but harly anything special.

Sestri Levante 19/7 2024. 66 cl bottle from Gulliver, Via Nazionale, Sestri Levante. Yellow and grey label with the name of the beer written vertically and a roaring Lion standing on its hindlegs.
Pours clear pale yellow with a mid-sized white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin patches of foam floating about. No lacing.
Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet malty odor. Sweet pale malts, cardboard and white bread. Hints of caramel and syrup.
Light carbonation. Thin, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intensecwithna rather strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a light bitter undertone. Lingers for a bit. Finish is watery.
Another pale Italian Lager with a German name.

Greenish yellow, very clear and clean. White foam, good appearance.
Faint smell, some cereals, corn (light) and nothing else.
Same notes in the taste, with a light bitterness in the end. Relatively dry.
Cheap industrial beer, it can be drunk.

Brown 66cl bottle, best before 08-2011, drank and reviewed 11th June 2011.
This bottle cost 1 Euro, from a small shop on the Amalfi Coast, brought home to review.
Poured into a couple of Veltin Pilsner stemmed tulips: regular mid-pils/lager colour, golden yellow, clear, bright and clean. The white head left as soon as it arrived, pity.
The smell was almost nonexistent, so my normal score of 3 for a non-smelling pils/lager.
The taste and mouthfeel were poor, this is obviously a cheap supermarket beer and it shows as soon as you put it to your lips.
As the beer warmed a little it became metallic in it's flavour, even the wife noticed!

Another beer that I found at the local supermarket. This is typical, slightly sweet, European lager. It's a yellow-gold color with a minimal head. There's no lace at all. The aroma is a mix of cooked vegetables and cereal grains. The taste is a bit better than the smell, though, with a little malt flavor, and a huge dose of sweetness. Moderately carbonated, and very light, this is an easy beer to drink, if not enjoyable. The finish is light, straightforward, and a bit watery. I'd pass on this beer again.

Too light yellow straw body with a wisp of off-white head ringing the glass. Lightly toasted cereal (think Corn Chex) with some Nutrasweet sprinkled on top. Dull, sweetish malt (cereal) with a little astringent graininess thrown in for good measure. Minute hop bitterness leads into a soapy sweet finish. Light, oily and soapy feel. Meh...
