Had on tap. Clear golden body with a finger of white head that slowly settles in a thick collar, spotted lacing. Smell is laced with the grapefruit and basil, with sour wheat. Skeptical how this will work in the taste... So this actually tasted good, but the sourness is very strong, wheated note is too on the finish, but the grapefruit/basil combo starring with the usual gose nuances worked. But yeah that sourness and higher acidity for style does add up over the course of the glass, thinning out the body and making it harder to appreciate

I think this was my first pickup at Wrecking Bar. It's a pleasant beer with a pleasing aroma and solid flavor. It was pretty much what I expected. It's well-crafted and worth the trip.

(Grapefruit-Basil version).

Appearance: Pours a rather faint, nigh hueless appearance, just a wisp of pale straw yellow. Head, about an inch, white in color.

Smell: Grapefruit, its usage can really trounce things with unabashed sharp, citric bitterness. Basil, its usage can really trounce things with what seems akin to something of a juice cleanse diet. I'll admit, I was hesitant. Okay, so I grimaced reading the label. However, the aromatics are nicely blended and play well together. Underneath, a delicate tartness, a noted salinity and a touch of sour wheatiness.

Taste: Sourish, lactic wheat, albeit thin on the wheat with a quick, brief, low-level sweetness. Early on, the salt content, while never overwrought, is quickly discernible. Mildly juicy, citrusy from the grapefruit and has that unmistakable herbal zip from the basil -- both without going overboard and having me trudge off to the nearest sink. The salt has both an accumulative and sort of cleansing effect, aided by a little final spritz of carbonation at the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: A pleasant surprise.
