Appearance: Dark brown, walnut-toned body with a scant, sporadic, near white head.
Smell: Mild-mannered, fading notes of roast, of toast, and of chocolate powder covered nuts (also toasted).
Taste: Lightly tasting of unsweetened chocolate, roasted grains, and slightly sweetish caramel. Also moderately nutty throughout. Small snippet of ill-defined fruitiness. Leafy, earthy hops, gently bitter. Drying, nutty-roasty finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.
Overall: Works for me! A very pleasant, finely flavorful mild ale.

On-tap at the brewpub.
Pours a deep chestnut brown color with a light tan head that leaves decent lacing.
Smells of smooth toasted malts with good amounts of roasted malt aromas thrown in for good measures. Also present are slight hints of toffee and earthy hops.
Tastes similar to how it smells, though not quite as robust. Large toasted malts up front are joined quickly by drier and heavier roasted malt flavors. Midway through the flavor profile sweetens slightly with the addition of burnt toffee, fading out into a mildly bitter ending. Mouthfeel is good, with decent carbonation.
Overall any time I can get a locally-made mild I’m excited, and the fact that this one was as well made as it was made it that much better. A good example of the style, and one I hope shows up more than once on the draft list.
