Appearance: A very dark brown body, quite murky, though I heard the bartender mention the cask was nearing its end. One finger of lasting, beige foam.
Smell: Roast, hard kilned grains, but also a sharp grassy note, a few chunks of cedar, and subtle suggestions of bitter chocolate.
Taste: Roasty, yes, but with a taste of unsweetened chocolate powder and just a bit of caramel and brown sugar. Slight cedar character. Citrusy hop profile, but also robustly grassy from the dry-hopping. Roasty, bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Lightly carbonated.
Overall: Fairly good. It's also nice to see cedar being working in.
