Appearance: Shoved into my paw a murky, dark amber-brown body with a splotchy, off-white head.
Smell: Notes of chopped apples, toasted grains, caramelized sugars, with even lighter hints of booze and peat.
Taste: Opens sweet, then, gives over from tart, underlyingly funky apple jelly atop a piece of toast. A little boozy, but it's within reason. A smattering of raisin, but remains apple-y. Very low smokiness. Sweetish, warming, flat finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.
Overall: It's okay, though I'd rather have had the standard Colin's WHSA.
