500 mL bottle. Deep amber body. Smells of bourbon, oak, slightly fruity, and caramel. Tastes fruity and of strong whiskey. Caramel and very nutty malts. Sweet. Oaky back end. Heavy and boozy. It's fine.

On tap in Atlanta.

Unlisted ABV seems to be about 8.5%.

Rich malty flavor with very good bitter-sweet balance.
The barrel aging is obvious but does not mask the malty Scotch Ale.
Hints of whisky, prunes and other dark fruits, toffee and vanilla.

O: Rich flavor and delicious aroma.

Appearance: Very dark brown bo--hey, I don't recall the base beer being quite so dark. Then again, as it is later in the evening, they have the romantic mood lighting in place for their one year anniversary celebration.

Smell: Heavily sweet-scented, luscious nose of toffee, hot fudge, vanilla, and quality whiskey. Yum yum.

Taste: Let me tell you why this is good. Very sweet, very round, very maltiness of English toffee, chocolate sauce slathered crust-on toast, with vanilla and the whiskey flavor wonderfully integrated into the final taste. Sweet, seductive, satisfying finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Lightly carbonated. Exquisitely silken mouthfeel.

Overall: Excellent. Putting their scotch ale into a whiskey barrel was a delightful decision. This is one of those cases where the barrel treatment greatly improved the beer (unless they've since re-tweaked the scotch ale recipe).
