The Intervals series is a platform that allows our brewers to experience and study the ingredients that we use in brewing. As we develop new flavors and experience those nuances we can share that with others. From single hop varieties to alternate grains we want you to learn with us! Experiment, learn, repeat!

I had some problems with South County BC CANs pooching outward in the face of the recent heat wave. I then set up a triage to get as many suspects into the reefer as possible so as to prevent actual explosions, which have happened in the past. The CANQuest (tm) has a CANlection of failed CANtainers & will display them on request. Curious? Just ask!
From the CAN: "Experiment*Learn*Repeat"; "Brewing Research Series"; "Best Kept Cold"; "Drink Fresh Do Not Age"; "Exploring the Possibilities"; "Learn With Us".
No pooching, but I was CANcerned all the same. I Crack!ed the vent to some mild foaming. Hmm. A slow, gentle Glug saw it rising up to form three fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention, leaving loads of lacing in its wake. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose smelled strongly of oranges, tangerines & the citrus-based cleaner that the Navy introduced in the late-1980s/early-1990s. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. Once more, I think that this is a S.M.A.S.H. (single malt and single hop) beer with a base crystal malt or something equally innocuous. It is clearly intended to showcase the hops, which it does really nicely in this case. It was very orange citrusy with only a light bitterness, which is fine for an APA. I mention this since I try to rate to style, not to personal taste, but the numbers do not always sync up with my verbiage. If I like a beer, I will say so & if it is not to style, I will rate it accordingly. I liked its slightly bitter, but very orange-citrusy finish. Very nice!

Growler into pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy gold color with a fine, persistent off-white head. Initial impression is bitter citrus (orange rind); biscuity malt is way, way in the background. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. Finish is dry; bitterness lingers. A pretty one-dimensional offering - not bad, but not gonna displace their Cosmic Nod anytime soon.
