16oz can courtesy of bl00. The bottom is stamped "17.11.30." My first DIPA designed to be similar to a dessert.
Poured into a tallboy glass, this was beyond hazy; opaque is probably a better descriptor. Color was somewhere between burnt orange and russett. Beige colored head that didn't hang out too long. Modest lace.
Nose is dominated by strawberry scent, though there's a hint of milkiness as well. The fruitiness drowns out any hop aroma present.
Big, fruit forward flavor, but more diverse. Strawberries lead the charge, but then hand things off to the raspberries, providing a sweet-tart taste that keeps the sweetness of the strawberries in check (I personally prefer raspberry flavor to strawberry for that reason), with the lactose sugar giving a milky, ice cream-like taste that lingers in the background. There's a very slight dryness at the swallow that hints at the presence of hops.
Medium bodied, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel.
Most unusual beer I've had in a while. I was skeptical of the gelato-ish nature of this beer, but not anymore. One can per session is enough, however. Maybe I should have saved this for dessert. Thanks, Dan!
