At long last, the CANportunity has finally arisen for me to do a brewery horizontal with South County B.C. & potentially close the book on them. I am sure that they mean well, but I have had far and away too many of their CANs that have either pooched out or exploded altogether. The CANQuest (tm) is not interested in babysitting a beer in the hopes of keeping it together. Once I run through this lot, I will disCANtinue buying their beers.

From the CAN: "Experiment * Learn * Repeat Intervals Brewing Research Series"; "Learn with Us"; "Pour Into a Glass for Best Drinking Experience".

I Crack!ed open the vent & when nothing untoward occurred, I CANtinued by beginning a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It quickly became apparent that clarity was out of the question so I allowed it to flow a bit more freely, causing it to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with very good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose smelled solidly of oranges! Mmm. In the late-1980s, the Navy finally got smarter & beCAN transitioning from chemical cleaners to organic, citrus-based cleaners & while they required a bit more elbow grease, a) you had a ChANce of actually surviving maintenance & cleaning & b) the space smelled SOOO good afterwards! This smelled just like that! Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium with a softness in the mouth & on the tongue. The taste not only CANtinued with the orange quality, but added a hint of vanilla to remind me of a liquefied Creamsicle/Dreamsicle, the orange sherbet-enrobed vanilla ice cream treat on a stick. Mmm. Finish was semi-sweet, but very pleasant. I was impressed with the orange taste throughout. YMMV.

Can canned TODAY into pint glass. Pours an opaquely hazy gold-straw color with a decent off-white head. Great lacing. Initial impression is understated notes of orange, mango, tropical fruits - looks great, but it's not borne out in the taste. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. Finish is slightly bitter.
It's absolutely fresh, so evidently what I have in the glass is what the brewer intended. This just feels like it missed the mark, flavor-wise. A good but not great offering.
