From the Hopsteiner breeding program. A hybrid of Nugget/Zeus/USDA19085M. We get notes of sweet overripe pineapple and cantaloupe, a little green diesel, drying pine, slight floral (carnations) and citrus pith.

At long last, the CANportunity has finally arisen for me to do a brewery horizontal with South County B.C. & potentially close the book on them. I am sure that they mean well, but I have had far and away too many of their CANs that have either pooched out or exploded altogether. The CANQuest (tm) is not interested in babysitting a beer in the hopes of keeping it together. Once I run through this lot, I will disCANtinue buying their beers.
From the CAN: "Experiment * Learn * Repeat Intervals Brewing Research Series"; "Learn with Us"; "Pour Into a Glass for Best Drinking Experience".
I Crack!ed open the vent & when I was not met with any untoward ocCANances, I proceeded with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. This resulted in the formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with very good retention, slowly falling to wisps. Color was a slightly-hazy Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4). I CANcur with them on pineapple & CANtaloupe & while I also detected a floral quality in its scent, it would not have occurred to me to mention carnation. Great, spot-on call! I might have defaulted to hibiscus, but carnation is more apropos. The CANbination added up to a slight earthiness, perhaps what they were calling "green diesel". Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste CANbination was the intersection between wet-hopped earthiness & the fresh, green quality of my neighbor's garden. I tasted the tropical fruitiness of pineapple & the mintiness of pine, but the rest was subsumed by the earthiness. Hmm. It was an oddball, but still quite enjoyable. Towards this end, finish was semi-dry & a bit more bitter than others in this series. I felt more satiated with this one as a result. YMMV.

Finger's worth of Binet white froth... Decent retention... Pale hazy yellow... Notes of lemon and melon on the nose... Hints of smoke in the palate with light tropical fruits... Medium bodied... Unique but slightly off putting...

Can dated 11/14/19 into pint glass. Pours a very hazy burnt straw color, with a decent off-white head and good lacing. Initial impression is grapefruit, orange, and a little pine resin. Mouthfeel is fairly hard-edged, not pillowy. Finish is slightly bitter, but clean and dry. OK but not one of my favorites from South County.

Pours creamsicle in color. Light head, fairly sticky lacing. Smell is tropical, pineapple, with a light citrus backdrop. Taste is very bright, pineapple, and mild bittered pine. Very fresh juicy taste. MF is light to medium, dank and resinous. Very well put together beer.
