i dont know why we still dont have a generic sour or kettle sour type category here on BA, not every sour beer is a berliner or a wild ale, i wish there was option to add a beer under a different heading, i mean, if untappd can figure it out... in any event, this is a passion fruit and guava sour ale, wheaty but necessarily a berliner, stronger than most of those, just doesnt neatly fit into a set category here, but the beer is pretty solid. i like the fruit a lot, usually with these two i would expect the passion to dominate the guava, but i can definitely smell and taste guava in this which is nice, fleshy and a little sweet, nice with the tang of the passion fruit and the lacto. i dont love the sour profile here though, its a little to tart to be as unclean as it is, like this kind of amateurish bacterial thing is off putting in the absence of a bretty element, it almost seems to bring weird tannins out of the grain, its just a little sloppy to me there, and it detracts from how well i think they did the fruit part. needs some fine tuning, but not bad. the only sour we had in here.
