Had from the tap at Roc Brewing Co on Union Street in Rochester. Described by the bartender/brewer as their extra bitter pale ale infused with Nicaraguan coffee. Poured into a Rochester Real Beer Week pint glass.
Pours a dark, brownish amber color, pretty generic appearance. Not much in the aroma- a small bit of cold coffee, and a faint hop flavor.
The taste however, picks up considerably. The brewery described it as extra bitter. It didn't seem any extra bitter than any other Pale Ale I've had, maybe even less bitter, but that honestly scored points with me. It was insanely drinkable, even aside from the coffee flavor. I would have liked this pale ale without the coffee flavor. However with the subtle inclusion of the coffee, it pushed this beer over the top and made it quite unique. It didn't blast you over the head with coffee flavors, just had a slight cold coffee twang at the beginning of each sip. Really tasty, highly drinkable.
The best of the beers I tried from them last night, recommended.
