Notes via stream of consciousness: As I had to add this beer to the data base my first question was how to list it. I went with "kellerbier" although that's not right; it's just the closest thing to what it actually is out of the options offered. It's a light wheat beer at 4.5% that's brewed with 20% wheat and sugar. It's unfiltered and refermented in the bottle. It looks like a Belgian witbier, and it has a similar acidity and citrus character (lemon in this case), but there's no Belgian yeast involved, and no spices. It has an original gravity of 11.5˚ Plato, a hazy but light straw golden color at 7 EBC, and 20 IBUs. The body is capped by a short head of bright white foam, and although it holds up fairly well initially it then drops and leaves behind only spotty lacing. The aroma is clean and refreshing with lemony citrus and grass over a delicately sweetish, grainy, and softly wheaty malt base. The flavor follows. It's delicately sweet, lightly acidic, lemony, grainy, grassy, floral, and a hint woody. In combination with the acidity the moderate bitterness is enough to keep it in balance and leads to a dry, citrusy, and grassy finish. In the mouth it's light bodied and gently crisp-then-smooth with a fine-bubbled, moderate, and natural carbonation. It's really quite delicate and refined all around: aroma, flavor, bitterness, and mouthfeel. It's interesting in that it's so delicate and yet there's enough that it keeps you hanging on and longing for more that it becomes superbly drinkable. What was it that they said on their website, "...rischia di creare dipendenza" or as I translate it 'it risks creating dependency'; that may be a little strong, but yes, there is something about it.
