There is a strong artificial sweetness to the finish that, coupled with an uncharacteristic lightness, makes this less appealing that the initial nose and upfront flavours would suggest.

With just over 3000 bottles produced, Bodebrown Wee Heavy takes on the character of cachaça barrels from Weber Haus. As a fan of both beverages, I nearly wet my pants when Sergio told me that he would share a bottle with me. With much anticipation from a 300 ml bottle, on to the beer:
The beer has a dark leather brown color with a semi-soapy head with fair retention and good lacing. With a few whiffs of the smell, my heart was won. The complexity seems endless, the aromas brilliant. Spicy like a root beer, sweet and hot like cachaça, apples, chocolate that reminds me of Tootsie Rolls. I have to say that the spiciness of the aroma is such a beautiful thing.
Still a beautiful thing is what I taste. It tastes like spiced cider mixed with amburana wood, vanilla, and a big smooch of chocolate. On its "barrel to beer ratio", the beverage leans heavy on the barrel for influence. The beer is full bodied with some chew, and has a warming feeling to it.
One beautiful beverage transformed into a monster. It looks like Brazilians are starting to figure out how amburana can be used to take beer to a new frontier.
