Found this while travelling through SE Portland. What a lovely surprise. Homebrew shop next door, with the brewing going on downstairs, which can be seen from the top of the stairs. Filled with the nice scent of beer being brewed. These guys are beer geeks, and their array of styles shows it. Head brewer was also pouring, and was anxious to talk beer . They also were very open about receiving honest feedback about their beers. Would definitely viist again.

I stopped by this place when it first opened due to it being right down the road from my work and i needed some hops! Ended up going back a few days later for a pint once they had their beer on tap (they only had guest beers for the first few weeks) which was a smoked IPA. I was blown away and have been going back ever sense!
Jay, the brewer is always around and talks to all the patrons always answering any questions about the beer.
Cliff, the bartender (and jays father) is always there with a smile on his face and remembers me right when i walk in.
They always have a wide selection of different types of beers and i'm always quite happy once i leave.

Portland U-Brew is a great new brew pub in the Sellwood area. The beer is very good here, as well as the amazing service. You can brew you're own, watch a blazer game, all the while putting away a few fine hand crafted brews. Jay, Aaron, and Cliff have really got it going here. On Tuesdays they offer $10 growler fills, on Wednesdays they have 3 pints for $9, and on any day a Blazer game is on, pints are just $3.50 throughout the duration of the game. You can brew you're own beer here too. It's better than Lets Brew in that they use a carbonation gun for carbonating your beer, rather then those little sugar drops. and you make your mash, rather then use their pre-made mash. Their I.P.A.s and wheats always hit the spot. Check them out soon!

Really cool place in the sellwood neighborhood of Portland. The street level of the building is divided into two sections. One side is a spacious area with a wide variety of standard homebrew supplies. The other side is a small pub area with 6-8 rotating taps-including beer brewed onsite. Nice selection-the P.U.B IPA is really good. Downstairs is where the magic happens-a fully functional hands-on brewery! For around $150 you can brew your own 15 gallon batch of whatever style of beer you choose. The awesome staff guide you every step of the way through the brewing process. They handle the fermenting and storage and when it's time, you come back and bottle your creation. I brewed a hop-heavy IPA that will be ready to bottle in a couple weeks - I'll post an update on how it turns out. Highly recommended.
