16oz glass at Beer Revolution.
This beer appears a clear, bright red brick amber hue, with one finger of weakly foamy, and mostly frothy, soapy dirty white head, which leaves some decent rain forest lace around the glass as things sink away.
It smells of lightly biscuity pale and caramel malt, a hardwater minerality, grapefruit and blood orange rind, and a touch of pine needle. The taste is big and bitter up front - acrid generic citrus pith, astringent pine resin, acerbic, almost metallic grassiness, all up against a sturdy as fuck bready caramel malt, with strong hints of toffee, and lesser treacle twinges. An ever so slight booze warming emerges as the ambient temperature rises.
The carbonation is adequately peppy, the body a pleasantly plump medium-full weight for the style, and more or less smooth, those hops poking their nose in at times. It finishes on the sweet side, the malt hanging very tough, while the fruity hops soften a smidge.
A genuinely enjoyable red IPA, the red being the amped-up malt bill, to go with an appropriately pungent hoppiness. Grizzly Paw is coming out with some better stuff from their new highway-adjacent production facility, I'm looking forward to what is yet to come.
