16oz pint at Beer Revolution in Oliver Square.
This beer appears a clear, medium copper amber hue, with a thin cap of wispy and faintly bubbly dirty white head, which leaves but a single instance of splashy ocean spout lace anywhere near the glass as things slowly abate.
It smells of semi-sweet, bready caramel malt, pumpkin puree, nutmeg, cinnamon, all-spice, and earthy ginger, and a weak weedy, leafy hoppiness. The taste is grainy, lightly caramelized pale malt, more muddled seasonal pie spices, a weird clammy sourness, soft pumpkin flesh notes, and perhaps a hint of mountain river water flintiness.
The bubbles are pretty much subdued in their attempt at any sort of influence, the body an adequate medium weight, and plainly smooth, I suppose. It finishes well off-dry, the caramel malt and lingering pumpkin holding sway.
A pleasant enough pumpkin ale, all sides representin'. Nothing overtly complex, but appropriate for the season, for a number of weeks longer, southern cousins duly included.

It is a cold, snowy day - perfect for catching up on some reviews from my notes.
Visited the brewpub in Canmore, available on tap.
Copper color with bright orange hilights. No head, just a thin cap that shrinks to a ring around edge of glass.
Aromas of fresh pumpkin, and lots of pumpkin pie spices like of nutmeg and cinnamon.
Tasted the same as it smelled, pumpkin is present with spices in the aftertaste. Sweet from the malt base, then some bitterness at the end. Nicely balanced, and not overpowering.
Minimal carbonation keeps it smooth and kind of creamy, easy to drink.

Appearance: Coppery colour with slight fogginess in its clarity. Very thin amount of head.
Smell: Cinnamon, pumpkin, nutmeg, cloves, ginger - all the spices you would pick up in a slice of pumpkin pie.
Taste: Best way to describe it - liquid pumpkin pie. Not too sweet like pie, but very nice to the tastebuds. Nice balance of beer and pumpkin pie flavours.
Mouthfeel: Easy drinkability for this style of beer. Not a lot of bubbles on the tongue and goes down smooth.
Overall: The best pumpkin ale I have ever tried. Grizzly Paw has made a pumpkin ale that is very well-balanced. Although there is a strong pumpkin pie flavour, it does not overpower the beer itself. I hope to see this one bottled in the future - I would pick up a 6-pack in an instant.

Visited the brewpub and this is only available on tap
A- Was a orange/copper color with nol head to speak of. There was some minor lacing but nothing special. There didn't appear to be much in terms of carbonation, which I was liking. Fairly average looking.
S- Top marks here! Wonderful aromas of fresh pumpkin pie! I could really smell the spices of nutmeg and cinnamon, plus the fresh smell of carved pumpkin to round out the spice. No real hop aromas detected but there was some malt!
T- Pretty much tasted like it smelled but not as pronounced. There was some slight bitterness on the finish, which mildly rounds out the sweetness, and the maltiness really comes through here. Overall, it's like drinking pumpkin pie filling with a bit of a kick!
M- Nice creamy texture. low carbonation and decent body. Nothing bad here....really makes you think about Thanksgiving dinner!
D- If I wouldn't have been on my way home, I would have sat and enjoyed this brew all afternoon with my wife! I'd be happy to enjoy this throughout an evening/afternoon. It's easy drinking, great autumn flavors and smells....a real pleasure to drink! Grizzly Paw Brewery hasn't dissapointed me yet!
