2014 vintage.

Great citrus, flowery smell. Great Amber and honey color. Mouth feel is a bit thin, flavors are beautiful spices and vanilla.

LOVE IT.

Light brown in color and rather hazy. A thin layer of white foam covers about a third of the top of the beer. Brussels lacing. Aroma of Rosemary is present but held in check by bready malt. The spiced flavor is fairly bold in the taste and easily dominates it. The aftertaste is pretty much amber malt. The mouth is dry, light and crisp for the alcohol content.

A: dark amber-towards-brown, cloudy; thin sustaining head, some lacing
S: fairly strong and fruity-sweet, plum and dark fruit, raisin bread - light hint of alcohol
T: the opening starts out a little more tart than the nose, and the "holiday spices" appear in the taste that I missed (or couldn't distinguish) in the smell - nutmeg and clove. When the spice flavor fades, the fruit flavor returns, seeming a little like a dry dessert wine.
M: lingering pin-pricks from carbonation is what I get, not much else, but I don't expect a big punch from this style. The alcohol never quite makes an entrance.
O: I enjoyed this beer from a style I am just trying to get a feel for. I think the combination of dark ale and winter ale works well. The winter spices are refreshing but don't override the basic style.

750ml brown bottle with a freshness date.

Good lacing with a deep rusty amber hue. Smells of candied fruit, pepper phenols, apple skin, rosemary, & pudding. Nice crisp bite within the creamy full-ish body. Warming alcohol, spicy, melon rind, hint of bubble gum, rosemary, bready, yeasty, big raisin tone, orange pulp, & mild caramel.

Minus the spicing this does fully remind me of the Belgian Christmas beers which I hunt each winter season. Very recommended.
