i thought this was incredible on tap. its a black berliner, which i dont think get made enough, what a great style, and this one is extra sharp and acidic with the addition of limes, a fun compliment to the bitter black malt. the souring in this one is more intense than other berliners, and with the darker grain, not so much of that socks and apples thing comes through, more mature feeling than that. similarly, its got more body than i am used to in the style, almost frothy for what it is, which i think is a great platform for these flavors, and i love that in a beer so sessionable as far as abv is concerned. tangy tart in the finish, with good bitterness from roasted barley and the lime zestiness is a great compliment. it would an understatement to call this one unique, and for all the times these two collaborating brewers are unique for the simple sake of uniqueness, this one serves a wonderful purpose and has a great result. perhaps one of my favorite dark beers of 2014. fantastic overall.
