Inspired by the Abbey ales of Belgium, we created a dark, malty dubbel using a varieties of specialty malts, dark Belgian candi sugar, and dried Deglet Noor dates from California. Brewed in collaboration with The Block Restaurant. Ideally paired with roasted/grilled/smoked meats and chocolate.

Chestnut brown in color with a fingernail of creamy brown covering the top. Heavy lacing. The aroma is of caramel and hazelnuts. I'm tasting hazelnuts, caramel, fig, dark candy sugar, and dark chocolate. The mouth is full bodied and yet there's a light creaminess.

Tasted from growler fill 8-9-15. Drove 2.5 hours, re-chilled and let the crew at CBC Como enjoy. Pours a dark brown, and while there was not a lot of head from the growler, the pour from the tap gave the perception to me, that this is a well carbonated brew. Spoke to Jason behind the bar, and he said the this beer is/was brewed specifically for The Block restaurant in St. Louis. Dubbel that is steeped with dates is probably best description of the beer. Pours a dark brown. Malty forward on the nose. Taste is also malt forward, with a hint of the dates. Very pleasant and easy drinking beer.
