8 oz serving tasted in a snifter from draft at Consume on November 22, 2017. Look is light orange. Smell is grassy with orange blossom and tropical fruit notes.

Poured a clear, orange gold body with minimal head and a floral, juicy, bitter, citric hopped aroma. Beer is smooth, juicy, light, balanced w/ bitter dryness w/ earth notes and some light grapefruit and malt sweetness. Pretty easy-drinking IPA that has a touch more sweetness on finish than hops but hops are noticeable.

a neat mixing together here of all the elements. a simple and substantial, classic malt base, followed by a mix of new school hops and dry hopping and experimental numbered varietals and all of that, and finally and english ale yeast to ferment an ipa that before the yeast, is not very english at all. seems crazy, but i like it! some haze and some color to this, its quite prominently malty, fresh and distinctive but sturdy too for an american ipa.i definitely get the fruity new zealand hops in nose and taste, white wine and pineapple and even passion fruit, but its also super bitter, moreso than i would have expected from these varietals, even not knowing the numbered one. never would have put these hops with an english yeast and a more hearty malt base, but it sure works, and i am excited about this chemistry. the yeast leaves a bready complexion, seems to play up the bitterness, but also support the full structure of the grain and create a nice landscape for the hops to burst with their true essences, unadulterated, weird but great. perennial has stepped it up with their hoppy stuff, and oddly enough my critique of this is neither that its too malty or too english, but that its too bitter. curious, but they are onto something here. unconventional yet delicious.
