This pours the color of a dark burgundy, with the thinnest of lacing. Aroma is reminiscent of sour cherries, their tartness coming across. Finishes slightly tart, more cherries, with a hint of dark chocolate roast and a crushed blueberry note. Fantastic.

750ml bottle. Dark black body, one finger white head, short retention, no lacing. Smell is dark chocolate, a bit of milk chocolate as well as a bit of vanilla, touch of bitter cocoa. Flavour is dark chocolate with a bit of lactose, smooth creamy vanilla, orange zest, toasted grains, a bit of burnt malt with an odd astringent cocoa flavour throughout that does seem to detract some from the beer. It does provide a bit of balance, though maybe would have been better off without it. Medium-fuller bodied, lower carbonation, astringent finish with a touch of zest. Wanted to like this one more than I ended up doing so.

I had this beer on-tap in a snifter at Perennial in St. Louis.
Appearance: rich dark brown with a thin layer of brown foam. Good indeed.
Smell: boozy with chocolate, sweetness and maybe just a hint of orange. Good, but the alcohol could be toned down a little.
Taste: boozy, with a decent chocolate and orange flavor on the milk stout background. An interesting beer!
Mouthfeel: medium body with good carbonation and capital milk stout creaminess.
Overall: I like this beer a lot. I'd like it more with a little less overt booziness.
