Collaboration with Half Acre Beer Company

Lascaux is a collaboration with our oldest buddies Half Acre Beer Co. up in Chicago. Originally brewed to celebrate Phil Wymore’s 40th birthday, we switched it up and gave it our “Méthode Haze” treatment. Brewed with a bevy of flaked oats, and crushed in the spinner with Ekuanot Cryo. A significant double dry-hop then ensued with fresh vintage Citra and Ekuanot Cryo. A beautiful expression of Citra, this beer reminds us of eating Dreamsicles after bike rides, floating on a raft in a swimming pool of OJ and listening to Cam’Ron with the window up.

I had this beer on-tap in a snifter at Perennial in St. Louis.

Appearance: medium orange hue with plenty of haze and thin layer of ivory foam.

Smell: citrusy and just a little sweet; it has kind of an orange peel character. Not bad!

Taste: citrusy, fruity, and quite smooth. A bit on the juicy side, which I rather like. Moderate bitterness gives it a good balance; I like it!

Mouthfeel: medium body with a smooth carbonation and very nice creaminess.

Overall: a very well-executed IPA. The aroma seems a little light, but other than that a good beer indeed.
