Pours a deep, dark, inky and basically opaque brown with minimal dark tan head forming a thin bubbly ring around the edge. The liquid leaves thick legs in the glass as it goes down, too. Notes of vanilla, chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, charred oak, bourbon, dark dried fruit, molasses, and maple. Medium-full bodied, with low to modest carbonation and a sweet, slick, rich, warming, coating mouthfeel in great balance.

Pours pitch black with thin ring of brown head, dissipates quickly into a thin brown ring around the outside. Nose is huge warming bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, oak, fudge, hint of dark cherry. Taste is burnt marshmallow char, whiskey, dark chocolate, oak, fudge. Lingers on the palate, layered, complex. Rich, creamy mouthfeel, oily. This is MasterClass barrel meets stout. What a treat.

poured from a 750mL bottle into an oversized snifter. pours thick black with a nice dark brown head. head dies off and leaves a dark brown ring around the glass. stains the glass with flecks of black and brown as the beer is consumed. smell is huge whiskey notes with some chocolate in the background. maman typically has plenty of barrel but this kicks it up a couple degrees. while the barrel elevated the nose i think it detracts a little from the taste. from what i recall i prefer maman 17 & 18 taste over this version. i don’t mind the over-the-top whiskey taste (and sting) but it almost takes it a step too far as maman is pretty boozy and perfect in taste to begin with. feel is right on par with maman and all other perennial stouts. no complaints in that department. ever. overall, an amped up even boozier maman - thick chocolate bourbon deliciousness.
