Funky Wit Cherry is the newest addition to our fruited Funky Wit series. We aged our Witbier in one of our French oak foeders for nearly a year, then transferred it onto tart cherries for 4 months. Notes of cinnamon, pie crust, & bursting with cherries. Naturally carbonated.

I've always been a fan of the Perennial Wit beers. This 375 was from the '20 membership year, opened on 6/7/2022. Poured with a good carbonation that quickly faded. color is a deep orange crossed with a bit of red. On the nose is a classic barnyard funk that hits the nostrils pretty hard. As that initial waft fades, I am presented with a bit of tart fruit. On the palate my tartness reaction reverberates generating a bit of that back throat saliva. The first tangy wave subsides, followed by a hint of fruit(I do pick up cherry every once is a while, but not a strong presence...you really have to look for it). Lastly, a big wheaty/crackery finish sits on the palate between sips. To me this is a great intro to sour/wilds. Would recommend.

poured from a 375mL bottle into a perennial wine glass. pours a light pink with minimal head that disappears quickly leaving no trace it was ever there in the first place. smells of pepper, pie crust and faint cherries. taste is similar with less of the pie crust aspect and more of a tart, acidic sharpness in the finish. not much in the mouthfeel department. a little thin and watery. still, a good beer. not a cherry bomb by any means but i’m okay with that. looks like pink lemonade and drinks like an alcoholic cherry 7up.
