Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. This can says best by 2/12/24 … so two months past its best-by date, but it’s a lager, so what could go wrong?
Appearance: medium golden-orange hue with a light haze and a thick finger of pillowy ivory foam atop. Looks good.
Smell: sweet and mildly corny malt aroma. The corniness is actually pretty restrained, given that this is a “hominy lager”. I like it, but it’s a bit sweet and not very toasty, for a Vienna lager.
Taste: a bit on the sweet side, like the aroma, and also pretty corny, as expected. Bitterness is perhaps a bit on the high side; it doesn’t entirely jibe for me, but it’s not bad.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this is certainly a relatively crisp and refreshing beer. I could definitely see it going down well with some Tex-Mex or while sitting on a beach. I’m just not sure the corn-forwardness really helps a Vienna lager.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Pours a clear brass-amber topped by a finger or so of sandy-white foam. The nose comprises sweet cereals, light grass, flowers, and a touch of sweet corn. The taste brings in more of the same, everything coalescing into a vague bit of sweetness and leafy grain-ness. The body is a hefty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a slick-ish feel. This is essentially a high-falutin' Genny Cream ale. Not gonna argue with that too loudly.

poured from a 16oz can into a dimpled mug. pours a light amber with two fingers worth of white foamy head. nose is bready and malty with that clean lager yeast smell coming through a bit. it all plays really well together. taste has those nice bready and malty notes with a touch of sweetness. all of that coupled with a nice full mouthfeel and it’s slightly darker color makes this seem like it would be heavier than 4.8%. that’s not to say that it’s boozy or anything like that just that it doesn’t fall under the category of lagers that you can throw back several in a row. it’s damn tasty though, even if it is a little sweet and filling.
