This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like chocolate chips and fudge, brownies, cookie dough, espresso, oak, bourbon, and rye spice.
I never had the original BA Sump to compare to this one, but this seems to be very enjoyable. It's very silky, with a fairly restrained barrel character. I get a touch of oak and barrel spice, but the spirit itself is fairly well woven into the base stout. I get a lot of dessert-like flavors - cookie dough, brownies, chocolate-covered espresso beans, etc. I also get a touch of vanilla and light dark fruit fruitiness.
This is medium bodied, not super thick, but more just silky and velvety. There's really no booziness, which is impressive given what this is.
I am rarely let down by Perennial's barrel program. I am certainly digging this one.
