For the first installment in our Brewers’ Reserve series, brewer and cellar manager Chris Kinast pays homage to the Ordinary Bitter. Brewed with a base of Maris Otter and a touch of both Crystal 15 and 60, a first wort addition of English grown Fuggle and fermented cold with our preferred English ale strain. Snappy bitterness, with a beautiful malt character that lends to an endlessly drinkable beverage.

pleasant golden/amber beer with a moderate but impressively persistent head. It is astonishingly (to this bitter novice) fruity on the nose with table grape notes over top of a pleasant floral and earthy character.
Taste is a clean, simple malt base with a bit of bread crust character that is enhanced by a "forest floor on a crisp autumn day" note.
Feel is clean and light, maybe a bit over carbed for the style (going off the style notes here, this is my first [?] ever bitter)
Overall this is a wonderful and easy drinking beer. I can definitely see the appeal of drinking pint after pint of a beer like this with good company and live music. Easy to enjoy without being one note.

poured from a 16oz can into a willi becher pint glass. pours a burnt orange, almost a caramel or copper color with a half finger of white foam head. taste is herbal and malty but still drinkable. almost has a tea like quality to it. mouthfeel is full bodied all the way, start to finish. this is very enjoyable. i which more U.S. breweries made this style more often. easy drinking but enough malt character to not allow it to be chugged, giving you time to enjoy and reflect on what you’re drinking. it’s a great pour for when you want a beer without the side effects.
