Session coffee stout with beans from Mexico, Chiapas, Las Cotorras roasted in St. Louis by Sump Coffee. This is our way to brighten your day and give you the energy to tackle all those “spring cleaning” projects you have been meaning to do. Medium-roast coffee aroma is accented by nutty, toasty, and chocolate notes. Underpinned by a woody, earthy structure, it is decadent-meets-practical and highly drinkable. Makes us want to spring out of bed, throw on some mud boots, and get ahead on our chores. Reminds us of stomping through a meadow after a rainstorm, sunny mornings with crisp dew glistening on the tree buds, and the sound of a toaster finishing its work.

Aroma is fresh black coffee/slightly sweet and a hint of chocolate. The flavor is fruit/dark fruit, fresh coffee, dark malts and a mildly sweet/acidic finish.

16oz can served in a tulip stout glass. Best before 08/31/21.
Appearance: Black letting no light through. Thin tan head with big strands of persistent lacing.
Smell: Strong fresh dark roast ground coffee, with an underlying hint of roasted malt and cocoa powder. The coffee aroma really dominates with a tiny bit of pungency and espresso bean note.
Taste: Tastes just about the same as it smells, but there is some underlying sweetness from the malt which comes through to temper the coffee bitterness. The malt is a little bit brown sugar, a little bit caramel.
Mouthfeel: Good thickness, light carbonation.
Overall / Drinkability: This is described as a coffee session stout, and it sort of fits that bill although I'm used to thinking

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left minimal lacing on the glass. It smelled of roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla and toffee. Nice roasted coffee taste with a bitter finish. Notes of chocolate and vanilla, too.

Pours black with a finger of off-white foam up top. Head retention is okay. Aroma is roasty, toasty, caramely, bready malts with a twist of toffee and a dash of coffee. Coffee has a heavy roasty, sightly bitter presence. Flavor profile is roasty, toasty, bready, nutty, caramely malts with thin coffee behind. Coffee is a little frail and more on the roasty, bold side vs. balanced and smooth. Mouth feel has a sharp crispness up front with a softer finish. Thickness is medium-thin. Overall, coffee is fair with an otherwise modest presence.
