It’s TIME. 2 years ago we gave our friends at Perennial Artisan Ales 4 empty Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels. They filled those barrels with their amazing base stout. The beer spent 24 months in barrels. Once completed, it was blended and bottled. What came out was the renowned Perennial Maman.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like roasty coffee, cookie dough, vanilla, spicy oak, leathery bourbon, licorice, herbal roast, and dark chocolate.
I haven’t had regular Maman recently enough to determine just how much of a difference this specific blend has on the taste, but it feels about on par with how much I generally enjoy Maman. It’s got a divine barrel character – spicy and oaky, with some vanilla, caramel, and almost cookie dough like flavors. There’s a pronounced charred-like bitterness here that’s tasty to my palate, but might not be everyone’s favorite.
This is medium bodied, maybe not quite as thick as standard Maman, with a nice warmth to it without too much overt booziness.
This is a serious barrel aged stout – I love it.
