Clear, medium gold color; moderate carbonation; thick, frothy head, dense and sticky inside the glass. Faint aroma, mostly light malt with the barest suggestion of pungent hop presence. Powerful flavors emerge with each sip; mildly sweet malt base offset with a very tasty, zesty hop flavor; herbal with a star anise and mint suggestion. Medium-heavy body; fine residual sugar feel; light prickliness on the palate; low-key dryness offsetting the delicate malt sweetness.
The taste alone merits this beer as a top-notch west coast style India pale ale. It has some impressive and surprising aspects, combining zesty spiciness with sublime malt grain flavors. Delicate and sublime balance and complexity.
Pouring temperature: 46 °F; canning info: BEST BY 10/14/23
