poured from a 750mL bottle into a perennial snifter. pours a shiny, inky black with a thin layer of dark brown foam cap that recedes into a thin collar around the rim of the glass. huge chocolate on the nose with whiskey barrel and coffee in there as well. the coffee combined with the base imperial stout gives off a nutty chocolate flavor and aroma. as it warms and opens up the whiskey barrel shows up more on the taste than it did the nose. thick, full mouthfeel. this is a monster of a barrel-aged imperial coffee stout. thick, creamy mouthfeel with a very chocolate-forward flavor profile. the coffee and chocolate notes combined with the barrel-aging make for a rich, decadent sipper which forces you to slow down and really enjoy and appreciate this beer.
