Poured from a 750ml into a Abraxas snifter at refrigerator temps.

The slightest head is present on a agressive pour, alcohol legs are present on the glass. The head quickly dissipates with barely any reinforcement for the smallest bubbles. Muddy raisin color, with zero carbonation evident once the glass settles.

Bourbon, caramel, cinnamon on the nose. The chili peppers aren’t present.

Sweet vanilla, cinnamon, coconut, caramel, with a raisin finish on the palette. Again, no hint of chili peppers.

Mouthfeel is slick, flat, with a medium body.

Overall, an interesting take on Abraxas. The adjuncts probably work better with a Stout, but this is really good.

On tap at Dominion Wine and Beer.
A - Apmost no head. Pours opaque brown with reddish tones.
S - mild Cinnamon and vanilla
T - not excessive but leads with the vanilla and cinnamon. Some sweet malty notes underneath. Chilis are almost non-existent.
MF - medium heavy body. Slick and coating. Slightly sweet lady my finish.
O - Definitely has the English Barleywine bones underneath the adjuncts.

On tap:
Ever so slightly red tinged dark brown, it maintains a thin ring of bubbles but generally appears near flat.

Smells more like a quad - likely due to the sweet bourbon notes pairing with the barley. Deeper down there is a more American pairing of barley and hop - though maybe it’s some cinnamon and cacao coming through, as it’s a bit earthy.

Taste is a bit too sweet, but the coconut of the barrel is coming through nicely. Fig, raisin, then some actual dessert wine all follow the mostly barrel opening. A slightly tangy ending, though macaroon-like sweetness fills back in the linger.

This beer is a bit sticky and maybe a tad heavy. A little less syrupy feel and I’d enjoy the feel a bit more. Then again, it does make for a luxurious after dinner drink.

Pours deep brown bordering on black. Aroma is sweet with the usual Abraxas cinnamon with bourbon & caramel. Taste follows with sweetness of a well balanced cinnamon, bourbon with noticeable notes of raisin, vanilla & caramel. Medium mouthfeel. Outstanding barleywine.
