There's no crying in baseball! But apparently its allowed in craft beer. And those tears are dark.
Billy Ray Cryish carries the standard onyx black color caught in a mirror-like sheen while capping off with a densely packed white creme. Roasty aromas abound while elements of cola, dark fruit and caramel seem to ebb and flow throughout the nose. Sweeter on the tongue, a savory blend of honey, caramel and sorghum lay a mild mannered but malty sweet foundation to start.
As the Irish Dry Stout trends drier and roastier, the more firm aspects of dark roast coffee, light coco, roasting walnut and blackened char quickly command the middle palate. Hints of grilled and dark berries offer a fruity hint while the sweetness seems of cola later in taste. A light bitterness seems more from roasted grain than that of woodsy hops as the session comes to a close.
Medium light in body, the dark beer is quite drinkable although a little thin through the center and into finish. A bolder sweetness than usual and those fruity nuances has the beer seeming more of Irish Export in taste but with the lightness of Dry Stout.

I tried this at the pub just of A30 near Grayton beach. It poured an opaque dark with thin tan head that left a nice lace. The scent included subtle hints of roast and chocolate. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet malt base and roast highlights. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a decent beer.
