I'm trying this at the brewery. It poured a nearly opaque black with ecru head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent had roast and pine hint. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. There was some roast mixed with citrus peel and pine. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a great beer.
They call it Black Powder now and it shows 7.3% abv.

On tap at the brewery. From notes. Reviewed 19 February 2016.
4/3.5/4/3.5/3.75
Black and opaque with brownish head.
Sweet malt and hoppy sharp.
Tastes roasty and dry. Dark tinted and slightly creamy. Mouthfeel is brief. Taste is too, but all of it is pleasant.
I feel I'd liked this better either as a BIPA or RIPA, but as it stands, it's worth visiting.

Poured from 32 oz growler into snifter. Supposedly this is a taproom only beer, but my local shop got a sixtel for an event.
A: Pitch black and 2 finger tan head with lacing tent ion and heavy lacing.
S: Piney hops mixed with roasty malts and a touch of rye spice.
T: Rich roasty malts with earthy hops and fresh pine. Hints of peppery spice.
M: Medium body with average carbonation. Finish is lightly bitter.
O: Very nice Black IPA but I wanted it to be a little more hop forward.
