Copenhagen 2/4 2021. 33 cl bottle from Beerdealer web-shop. As Broeder Jacob Winterklokje. Blue label with ice crystals, musical notes and a pious Monk on the label.

Pours very dar - almost opaque - dark brown with a small light beige head. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet odor of dark malts mingling with a bit of alcohol. Dark fruits. Plums and raisins. Brown sugar and toffee. Dark alcohol. Port wine.

Medium strong carbonation. Medium thin, soft, oily, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is fairly intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a bitter undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.

Sweet but not cloying. Strong but not boozy. Nice Belgian.

Dark brown color with ruby hues and a frothy tan head. Aroma has dried fruits like dark, bitter cherries, raisins, some yeast esters and brown sugar on top. Taste has toasted malt, some burnt sugar, dried dates, raisins, some wood barrel notes, light wine tartness, some earthy bitterness on the finish. Medium to light body, medium plus carbonation. Quite complex yet easy drinking with a well hidden ABV.

Picked this up at a small drink shop in Belgium. Dark brown, nearly black pour with a quickly fading one finger beige head with minimal lacing. The nose is earthy and sweet with hints of dark fruits, leather, brown bread, and subtle port. The taste follows suit with lots of dark fruit along with hints of leather, black cherries, subtle cocoa, tobacco, and sweet port. The mouthfeel is syrupy and sweet with medium carbonation and a dry, sweet finish. Overall, this is way too sweet for my taste. A neat idea that just didn't work for me...

A - Pours deep brown-red, near black with a light tan head that lingers a short time

S - Coffee, strong red fruits (cherries come to mind) aroma

T - Dark chocolate, oak, sweet cherries and a boozey finish

M - medium thick, decent carbonation gives it a very smooth mouthfeel

O - Overall I really like this beer; the dubbel and port combination works great for a very warming, sweet-ish dessert experiences, without being overpoweringly sweet

A dark brown beer with a settling head.

The smell has dark malts and a distinct red fruit smell. The added port has a fruity, cherry smell.

The taste is complex, with red fruits, cherry, strawberries but also some oak and alcohol. The beer is very warming. The mouthfeel is a little sharp. The combination of the dubbel and port is a good one, but the beer needs a little aging.
