An extremely underrated beer. 4 pack of pints purchased from the brewery for $16.
Pours a very dark crimson amber color with a frothy tan head that leaves a thick ring of lacing on the glass.
Big aroma of cocoa powder, vanilla, raw almond, pecan and malt with subtle hints of toffee and caramel and a sharp pine note on the finish.
This is an almost perfect red ale. Very mellow, smooth and easy to drink. Just hoppy enough to balance the sweet creamy malt base.
Mouthfeel is on the full side of medium bodied. Very satisfying. A true comfort beer.

really good for a red. i don’t usually go for this style but wanted to try it and was not disappointed. seems a little weak as many reds do but the feel and overall experience are great.

Another gift from my co-worker Tina. Thanks again! Coming out of a 22 ounce bottle, on to the beer:
Very dark amber colored, crossing into crimson. A frothy head forms on top, retaining in a fine manner. Webbed lacing clings around the glass, providing the eyes with a good show. I get a decent aroma. Powdery semi-sweet chocolate sets the tone, malted chocolate balls, and a note of orange.
Station No. 1 spurs itself from the hoppy profile of many El Segundo beers. This is more malty than hoppy, and the powdery semi-sweet chocolate note from the aroma creeps into the taste. I also taste esters, and a soft pine flavor. It's a medium-full bodied beer with a whisper of the alcohol being noticed.
More than decent red ale from El Segundo.

Beautiful coppery red color with lots of foam in the New Belgium snifter. Pleasurable sudsy mouthfeel.
Hops are full of aromatics with some immediate bitterness along with the earthy taste. There is a nutty flavor with very light hints of vanilla and pecan. Lush and malty. Touch of caramel and a leafy, herbal edge. Finish is dry and moderately bitter. An excellent quaff.
This is one of the better Red Ales I've had, and another reason that El Segundo is my favorite brewery in the LA area. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Mega Liquor in Hemet, Calif.
