Dark gold/light amber colored pour with a small off-white head. Strong piney aroma. Taste follows the nose with lots of pine and resin upfront with a fairly strong malt presence as well. While the bitterness is strong, the beer tastes really well balanced with the hops coming on strong initially and the aftertaste being somewhat malty.

El Segundo calls this series "Super Beer Bros." and this is Level 1, brewed with Vic’s Secret Hops and Red X Malt. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Barons Market in San Diego. Pours a clear dark copper color with plenty of off-white foam in the Affligem chalice. Aroma is fresh cut green honeydew melon, but it's downhill from there.
Grainy and dirty. The aftertaste is quite dry and bitter. This is not something I want to drink again. Actually it's about my least favorite El Segundo beer ever so I hope they don't hook up with Mike Hunsaker again. This tastes like some kind of peculiar American Strong Ale with an odd sweetness and the bitter arts of chemistry.
