Collaboration with Highland Park Brewery
After we both brought home some bling from the Great American Beer Fest last year we decided we should make some beer with our Bros from Highland Park Brewery. We added some West Coast steez to a traditional Kellerbier and the results are pure L.A. Gold!

There's just a wee swirl of yeast in the bottle, so the pour is clear amber. Some coarse foam in the Bacchus tumbler makes for a nice first gulp. Pleasantly spritzy on the tongue, but more prickly than anything like the German style. Inviting flowery and citrusy hop aroma.
Flavor is pretty resiny, with a little orange rind. Quite a bitter aftertaste. I agree with ithacabaron on the style, inclined to call it a West Coast Pale Ale, and quite decent, at that. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Krisp Market in downtown San Diego.

Review number 200. Wasn't keeping track, but a nice surprise!
Pours a robust, slightly cloudy orange, with a craggy, off white head. A bit darker and wilder than I might have expected. Kellerbier in the rough.
Smell is very appealing. Massive, massive mango and passionfruit. Whiffs of pinesap. Smells way more like a NE-style IPA than any kind of Kellerbier, but it's still appealing. A little musty in the back. But you can't expect this to be to style.
Taste brings in buttery Ritz crackers and rosemary, followed by orange pith. A hard, clean snap of hoppy bitterness at the end. A very different beer from what the aroma would promise (with the exception of the random mango-laden hop burp, now and then), but quite nice.
Mouthfeel is more or less right on point. Maybe ever so slightly undercarbonated.
Overall, this is a very, very nice beer, and it would be absolutely killer with a big plate of ceviche. It's not a Kellerbier in the slightest, but don't let that stop you. Strongly recommended.

This was a nice beer. Light yellow color, good head. Aroma was super hoppy like a west coast IPA. Flavor is more in line with a kellerbier but had some hoppiness too. Tasty beer.

Clear straw colored pour with a white head and lots of effervescence. Somewhat bright aroma of citrus hops with a hint of resin. Taste is grainy and light with flavors of mildly-bitter citrus, grass, cracker and a bit of resin on the back of the tongue.

Looks to style as an unfiltered lager, with continuous bubbling, decent head retention, and significant lacing. Smells of biscuit with a fair amount of piney hop character. Moderately high hop bitterness on the palate, of a "West coast" style--resin, pine, and a bit of grassy flavor. Underpinned by a good malt and light fusel alcohol notes.

Poured from 22oz bottle into Seidel. Bottled on June 22nd 2017.
L: Hazy gold, thin white head has sub par retention.
S: Some citrusy hops, with some grainy malts.
T: Well balanced flavors of citrus hops with grainy malt. Reminds me of some pale ales.
F: Light, crisp and semi-dry.
O: Pretty solid.
