Seven years of brewing IPA's culminate in this monster. A similar, but updated hop cocktail from our previous anniversary beers. Thanks for doing the most important step in this journey. Enjoying it! Cheers to Lucky 7!

Now that I have begun really diving into the Bottle backlog here at Chez Woody, I am unstoppable! Yes, it means suspending The CANQuest (tm) for the moment, but the thought of being rid of these pesky bottles for once & for all is so heartening that I almost do not have words. These next bunch were all purchases through Tavour & as I have said repeatedly, I have no real beef with them. It was their inflexible local shipper + the continual adding to the backlog that led me to part ways.

Things ae moving quickly now! I am finding myself more & more in love with being at home with my beer & more & more unwilling to venture out. To celebrate this new sense of self, I Pop!ped the cap & began a slow, steady C-Line pour into the awaiting glass. I felt as though I was successful as others had mentioned a slight haze, but mine was faint, at best. Depending on the angle, it either had clarity or the faintest of hazes. Not in doubt was its formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention, slowly falling away, but leaving great lacing! Color was (maybe) an oh-so-slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7), but since there was a shadow of a doubt, The Gelt Gang declined. 8=( Nose was like taking a deep breath in the center of a pine forest in Winter as snow falls and needles are trampled underfoot & the sap is running from the dehydrated bark …
Ever see the "Band of Brothers" episode, "Bastogne"? It is the Battle of the Bulge, in the heart of the Ardennes Forest, in the dead of Winter! An artillery shell (!) hits a stand of pines, causing them to collapse. THIS is what THAT must have smelled like, plus spent gunpowder, but I'm saving mine.
Mouthfeel was big thick & full, like a dollop had been scooped into my mouth & onto my tongue! More like it, yinz El Segundo lads! The taste was cool, minty, pine resinousness & I wanted to swoon. This is the stuff that really revs my engine! Phew. Finish was cool, dry, minty, just the ticket! YMMV.

Slightly hazy yellow-amber brew with plenty of foam in the tulip. Really hot with alcohol. Moderate sweetness, loads of hops. This one is so powerful it's hard to separate out taste identities from the fire hose of flavors.
Aromatic with citrus. Grapefruit peel taste. Quite acidic. This is just too ouch of a good thing, especially since El Segundo has made such great double IPAs. But it's an interesting sip, a zinger, but a little harsh. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Barons Market.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a high sided tulip glass.
Look is a crystal clear yellow with a bubbly head that dissipates quickly.
Aroma is a thick and fruity like a sweet fruit syrup.
Taste matches aroma. Sweet hop fruity and balanced.
