We can think of only two things that come close to perfection. First up, the diamond… judged by its cut, color, carat and clarity. Treasured by many as the hardest, most valuable stone found the world ’round. It’s also the shape of America’s pastime, which on sight alone can bring about fond memories of hot dogs, beer, fresh cut grass and of course, hitting that 0-2 count, game-winning walkoff Grand Slam so many dreamt about. And on deck in our near-perfection line up is, obviously, the West Coast IPA… which just so happens to share traits with diamonds as it is partly judged by clarity and color and it is also the favorite pastime of all true IPA lovers. Once you factor in the great cut of aromatics the Galaxy hop brings to the ballpark, this straight up sandlot nostalgia may have you thinking that maybe there is, in fact, one perfect thing.

Clear amber brew with long-lasting foam in the fat wheat beer glass. Inviting sudsy mouthfeel. Aroma of lemon, hints of onion and green beans. Rather fruity flavors without a dominant theme. Citrus finish with moderate bitterness.

Hops include Simcoe as well as the headliner Galaxy. Overall this is thoroughly drinkable. From the 16 oz can purchased at Barons Market in San Diego. Dated 10/07/21.

Thanks to SkunkDrool for this 16 oz. can, split with my wife to kick off another rowdy weekend night hiding in the basement. I’m not ashamed.

The pour is more West Coast than Oakland, a gold so pure it would make the executives of Newcrest Mining weep with envy. The nose is much more restrained: fresh ocean breezes, a touch of melon, & soft sweetness.

Great Cut peaks with the eyes. Mirroring the nose, the taste is gentle & faint (a charitable man would call it ‘subtle’). Soft waft of bitterness & pine greet the palate, then one must shovel hard to find anything else. Flecks of melon, dankess, spring grass. Certainly easy to down.

Burps taste good! The classic reverse of ‘better going down than coming up’. Decent enough.
