When is “close enough” good enough? Sure, it’s perfectly fine and dandy in terms of horseshoes and hand-grenades. But what if an attempt was made, where the margin of difference was so minuscule, you had no choice but to give it to ‘em. Like a gimme putt. Canned corned beef. Or a 5.4% hoppy pale ale. Think you could really tell the difference if we bumped the ABV up just a tad higher and made it a 6.0% IPA? We don’t think so either. Enjoy this successful test in what almost could’ve been but almost truly is.

Crystal clear golden amber with plenty of foam in the chalice. Sprightly carbonation and refreshingly watery mouthfeel. Aroma of melon and a hint of grapefruit. Barely bitter, but enough to balance the pleasing touch of malty sweetness. Flavors of bread, citrus peel, and peach in the finish.
As a Pale Ale, this is delightful. It's a good thing they left it like this, with a restrained use of hops and a suitable ABV. Clean and crisp with a fragrant nose and light, dancing hop flavors. This is one of my favorite beers of 2023 and I will be looking for more of it. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine. Dated 05/25/23.
