Mayberry Gold is an amplified version of Mayberry IPA where we strayed from our selected Mosaic and Cascade and leaned into other lots that we absolutely loved during hop selection last year. With increased hopping rates, slightly higher abv, and a more complex malt bill, Mayberry Gold is the perfect beer to celebrate 15 years of West Coast Craft!

Interesting that they call this a version of Mayberry. With a completely different hop profile and malt bill, this is not really recognizable as similar. It definitely tastes like an ESBC IPA, but not at all like Mayberry to me.
Looks like a Mayberry from the pour. Slightly better head retention. Classy can art.
Aroma is really nice on this. Strong sweet juniper and pine notes up front, with touches of lime, papaya, giant mango, apricot and quince in the background. Multigrain cracker malt base with a dash of white pepper on the tail end.
Very smooth on the palate, but it's lacking in punch. Nice bitersweet juniper and pine notes come across here delicately. Sweet, minerally papaya and tart apricot and quince come through a bit as well. Not much spicy hop flavor or citrusy bite. I appreciate the excessive dry hopping, but they should have wet hopped it more too.
Honestly, I find the mouthfeel disappointly smooth and easy to drink.
I expect a WC IPA to bite back, and this is kinda just underwhelming. I think I had my hopes too high. It's still very good, I just prefer regular Mayberry over it.
