A 250ml draft pour at Moeder Lambic Fontainas into a Moeder Lambic tulip glass.

Appearance: A slightly hazy reddish orange colour, with a half finger pinkish head, that had good retention and left nice lacing.

Aroma: Sweet blackberry, notes of rhubarb, mixed berry hard candy notes, musty, hay, funk.

Taste: Sweet and sour mixed berries hard candy, blackberry dominates, notes of rhubarb, lemon zest, lemon, with some light funk.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Easy to drink, but more intense blackberry and rhubarb would have improved it.

Enjoying a 25cl pour at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, just around the corner from the hostel I’m staying at. An impressive array of Belgian draft options. This is a special fruit lambic. Would never consider the combo of blackberries and rhubarb but it works. Of course the base beer is incredible so the addition of quality fruit only improves a great beer. Tart, effervescent, funk off the charts. Divine.
