From an 11.2oz bottle I bought at the brewery on 02OCT21, during a visit with 2 great Dutch friends.... Had a couple of draft samples there and opted to bring a bottle home. Cost was €4.00....
Pours a hazy, murky, dark mahogany, with some garnet highlights evident when backlit. Has a touch of light carbo, and a creamy, fine, thin, beige head. Lacing is a bit on the lighter side. Smells of dark fruit, like raisins and dates, with some caramel making a cameo. The body is medium to medium-plus, and has a very smooth feel.
Taste has light sweetness, with caramel and toffee swirling around. Has more dark fruit all over - raisins, currants, dates, black cherry.... Mmmmmm! Also finding a touch of brown sugar. Has some decent, though restrained, hopping in the finish. Not quite as malty as some English BWs, or as hoppy as the US variant - sort of a hybrid.... well-made and tasty.... Prosit!
