On tap at Anaheim Brewery in Anaheim, CA.

Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and slight caramel aromas. Taste is much the same with a cocoa powder flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty but fairly basic.

Poured into a tasting glass.

Dark brown with a finger of off white head.

Smells a bit roasty and chocolatey.

Pretty roasty, nice subtle chocolate notes, some smokey meaty flavors.

Smooth and subtle. Low carbonation.

Really nice. Grill a steak or smoke a brisket and drink some of this. You'll be happy.

On-tap at Anaheim Brewery

A: The pout is a very dark brown, almost black, with a couple fingers of khaki head.

S: Starts off with a lot of roasted malts. There is some cocoa powder and dark chocolate with a little bit of coffee. Some hints of molasses and a little toffee sweetness. Not really complex, bit decent.

T: Cocoa powder flavor to open things up with plenty of roast to follow. A decent dark chocolate and molasses flavor with some toasted malt and bread. A mild earthy hop character, too.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

O: A pretty simple beer, but it lives up to its name. Pretty well done qnd the best from these guys so far.
