Can. Dark amber with a thick frothy tan head.
Aroma of malt and muted Marmite which continues into the taste. A bit of smoke, charred toast and a medium bitter finish.
Light to medium body and carbonation.
Similar to a lightly smoked German dark beer.

I usually don't enjoy hipster beer and I positvely dislike Marmite so Love-Hate is perhaps an optomistic proposition with this one. But nothing ventured nothing gained, and as with art with beer, I've found I can learn usefully even from what does not suit my own taste.
ps. Apart from the front logo this is blind-tasted, no can detail or reviews of it read beforehand.
L- By lamplight after dark it's a very dark ruby-chestnut. It also appears to have some haze to it. Poured with a 5-7mm mid-tan creamy looking fine-bubble head. So far so good.
S- I'm congested but can register it's non-standard. I get charred wood and hints of smoke.
T- Smoke and toasty charring. That comes together (in the finish) as an aspect of very heavily roast malt that lingers on the palate. The big surprise is that I don't register a Marmite aspect leaping out and whacking on mah ding-dong.
F- High CO2, very. First sip and I was swallowing gas. After that it calms a bit but it's a good level. It's a pungent beer, probably well suited to winter vs other seasons.
O- If handed this by a friend and asked to guess the style I'd probably suggest a German Rauch (smoked) beer. I don't get Marmite at all. I got my wife to try it too, nope, no hint for her either. So there you go, it was worth my trying this one. I expected to dislike it as a Marmite-beer, but it's pretty good as a smoked dark lager. 'Nothing ventured...!'
Bought from Wholefoods, London W8, 330ml can £2.30 BB: 30/03/2022. First new beer I've seen in London for weeks now - Review#2055,
--- Now to check the can: contains smoked malts and Marmite...

330ml can.
L: Clear, dark red/brown with a smear of off-white head.
S: Woodsmoke and barbecue.
T: Predominantly smoked malt (rauch malt) with sweet, rich marmite in the finish.
F: Medium body, drying.
O: Not what I was expecting. What *was* I expecting from an ale brewed with marmite? But as soon as it was poured, and a massive barbecue aroma emerged, I realised this is a rauchbier and the addition of marmite made sense. A properly experimental craft beer from Camden Town Brewery, available in UK supermarkets. Kudos.
